You may be aware that the Wyman St. area has been prone to horrendous and destructive flooding from Main St. all the way down to Winn St. But you may not know that there are now three new developments being planned on Wyman St. that will add about 60 new houses on this small stretch of road.
We began as a small group of neighbors who experience frequent flooding and who have respectfully, but persistently, attended all City Council, Conservation and Planning Board meetings related to development and subsequent increased flooding. We have met and communicated with city leaders at all levels to present our information and concerns in an effort to avoid more frequent and worsening flood conditions.
From this small group we have grown as a number of families from all over the city have asked us to keep them informed and updated on the developments in the Wyman area because many have similar issues in their own neighborhoods. Our Email distribution list now totals over 120 concerned citizens, our Face Book page has almost 800 fans, and our website is visited by hundreds of people each month representing families and friends all across Woburn.

WHILE WE VALUE OPEN SPACE, OUR GROUP DOES NOT WISH TO STOP ALL DEVELOPMENT, BUT ONLY TO ASSURE THAT ANY BUILDING IS DONE WITH THE MOST RESPONSIBLE FLOOD CONSCIOUS DESIGN POSSIBLE, AND TO KEEP SPACE OPEN WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
