Woburn Candidate Profile: Michael Scire For Ward 7 Alderman
The former school committee member is challenging incumbent Ward 7 Alderman Lindsay Higgins.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn voters will face several decisions in November's election, including three contested alderman races. Woburn Patch asked candidates in the contested races to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.
Michael Scire, 60, is running for city council, in ward 7, against incumbent Lindsay Higgins. Scire, a sales account manager and former school committee member, said he's concerned about "explosive growth in development," and the strain it might put on traffic, schools and infrastructure.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Housing growth throughout our city and the impact on the infrastructure is key to our city. I will work with other members of the city council to support proposals that benefit our city and not developers.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
As Ward 7 alderman, my focus will be on Ward 7 and making sure key issues are addressed in a timely manner. I feel that the current Ward 7 alderman has allowed our roads, sidewalks, and infrastructure to deteriorate.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?
The current city council has allowed explosive growth in development across our city, adversely impacting traffic, capacity within our schools, and overall infrastructure.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform:
Other key issues across Ward 7 that I will focus on include:
1. Deteriorating road & sidewalk conditions throughout Ward 7 neighborhoods
2. Ever-increasing property taxes
3. Increased traffic as a result of cut-through streets within Ward 7
4. Land that the Tarkey School resided on
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
In my thirty plus years in high tech sales, my experience working on teams, negotiating contracts, delivering a high level of customer service, as well as my experience as a past Woburn School Committee member has provided the skills needed to be an effective Ward Alderman.
The best advice ever shared with me was ...
Do what is right and don't let others influence your decision
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I'm running for Ward 7 Alderman because I see areas throughout Ward 7 that can be improved. An example is the resurfacing of Russell Street and the method used.
We have over 865 residents within Ward 7 who are retired. I have a plan that limits the tax increases our retirees and senior citizens experience across our city.
