Woburn City Council Approves $30 Million Fire Station Project
City Council voted at their recent meeting to approve borrowing $30 million with a 20 year term.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn City Council voted at their recent meeting to approve spending $30 million on a new fire headquarters plus renovations to three stations. The money will be borrowed, with a 20 year term. Fire Chief Stephen Adgate appeared at the Council's Feb. 18 meeting to thank them for supporting the project.
Council had previously approved a petition to the state for a land swap enabling the plan. With state approval, the Forest Park parks and recreation parcel used for the new headquarters would be replaced with equivalent amount of city-owned land converted into parks and recreation land. Hurld – Wyman School land would take the Forest Park parcel's place.
At their Feb. 18 meeting, City Council also approved an amendment to their petition at the request of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
