Woburn City Council To Consider 4.6% Property Tax Hike
While the tax rates will be lower, rising property values mean most owners will pay more. The average bill for homeowners will rise $199.

WOBURN, MA -- City Council is scheduled to Woburn set tax rates at a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday. In a letter to City Council, the board of assessors recommended a residential property tax rate of $9.50 for $1,000 of assessed value and a commercial tax rate of $23.72 for $1,000 of assessed value. While the proposed rates are down from $9.89 and $24.85 this year, most property owners would see an increase under the recommendation because of rising property values.
For the owner of the average Woburn home, tax bills would be $4,520, up $199, or 4.6 percent, from $4,321 this year. The total value of taxable Woburn real estate was set a $7.94 billion by the board of assessors, up from $7.37 billion a year earlier.
The complete presentation that City Council will consider has been posted on the city's Website.
