Woburn Election Could Feature Several Contested Races
In addition to two challengers to Mayor Scott Galvin, there are multiple candidates planning to run for city council and school committee.
WOBURN, MA — Candidates in Woburn have until 5 p.m. on July 23 to return signatures on their nomination papers to get their name on the ballot, and there are already several contested races shaping up. The mayor, all aldermen and all school committee members are up for reelection this year. The preliminary election is on Sept. 10 and the general election is on Nov. 5.
The preliminary election will be held as needed if there are three or more candidates for mayor, five or more candidates for alderman at large, three or more candidates for ward alderman or eleven or more candidates for school committee.
As of Wednesday, the following candidates had taken out nomination papers from City Clerk William C. Campbell. Candidates listed in bold type are up for reelection. An asterisk (*) signifies candidates who have returned their nomination papers and will be listed on the ballot.
