📰 News we're reading

• From pen pals to lifelong friends: 80 years across the ocean (homenewshere.com) — A 93-year-old Woburn resident, Bianca Della Sala, has sustained an 80-year friendship with her Dutch pen pal that began with post–World War II care packages from Medford to the Netherlands. Their letters, visits, and shared life milestones show how handwritten correspondence from Woburn helped build a lifelong bond across continents that still continues today.

• Rep. Haggerty backs effort to create regulatory structure around home care industry (homenewshere.com) — State Rep. Richard Haggerty of Woburn supported a new Massachusetts law creating a licensing and oversight system for non-medical home care agencies, now signed by Governor Healey. The measure requires background checks, training standards, and worker protections, and sets up advisory panels to improve long-term care and support family caregivers as the state's population ages.
