Woburn Father Asks Kenny Chesney to play Special Song in Honor of his Son
A Woburn resident took to Facebook to submit a special song request in honor of his son, who tragically passed in a car accident.
WOBURN, MA — A Woburn man has taken to Facebook to request a song at the Kenny Chesney concert in Foxborough in honor of his son who was lost in a car accident five years ago.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, Al Briere, 53, of Woburn identified himself as the father of four children including Joey, who would have been 24. In his post, Briere stated that Joey was tragically lost in a car accident while on his way to go skiing with friends, and that his son's actions during the crash were instrumental in preventing further losses.
"The last act Joey performed on this earth was saving his four friends lives. The car was headed into a guardrail which had a drop of over 40 feet ...Joey reached over and turned the car back towards the highway. Joey died of severe trauma to the head......" the post wrote.
According to Briere's post, the family has set up the Joseph Briere Foundation in honor of Joey, which donates to various charities, including the kids at "Best Buddies." At its yearly golf tournament, a video compilation was set to the tune of Chesney's "Happy on the Hey Now."

Briere indicated that his wife and six other friends would be in attendance. In his post, he asked Chesney to play either "Happy on the Hey Now" or "Who You'd Be Today."
"To hear either one of these songs live at your concert would be pretty cool, and definitely emotional," Briere wrote.
Chesney's show takes place Friday night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
