Woburn Police, AG Bust Mother-Son Drug Dealing Operation

The Lawrence mom and her son were being held on $15,000 after pleading not guilty Wednesday.

LAWRENCE, MA -- The Woburn Police Department was part of a joint investigation with the Massachusetts Attorney General's office, the State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team and the Department of Homeland Security that led to the arrest of a mother and son on heroin trafficking charges. Lillian Colon, 45, and Shawn Moreno, 21, were arrested Monday and arraigned Wednesday on multiple charges in Lawrence District Court.

Both were pleaded not guilty to charges of trafficking more than 200 grams of heroin (two counts each); trafficking more than 36 grams of cocaine (one count each); and conspiracy to violate drug laws (one count each). A judge set bail for Colon and Moreno at $15,000 a piece. They are due back in court April 4.

During the arrest in Lawrence Monday and a subsequent execution of a search warrant, police recovered 810 grams of suspected heroin or fentanyl, 36 grams of crack cocaine, more than $1,500 in cash, materials to package drugs and digital scales.

Woburn Police were were initially tipped off about the operation during its own drug investigation. They referred the case to the Attorney General's office.
