Woburn Police Warn of Craigslist Car Buying Scam

The Woburn Police Department is urging those who may be selling an automobile on Craigslist to exercise caution.

According to the department, a Woburn resident was scammed out of $700 by an out-of-state buyer. The suspect claimed the money was needed to cover registration fees for the car.

The scammer presented a believable story, kept the seller’s money, and did not purchase the car.

Police say it’s important to avoid anyone who may inquire about registration fees.
