$1 Million Scratch Ticket Winner Takes Lump Sum To Pay For Wedding

This Worcester guy took a lump sum, which is nearly only half, for his lottery winning payout.

WORCESTER, MA — No waiting for the money to come in dribbles over the years. A Worcester man who recently scratched a $1 million dollar winner is taking his payout in one lump sum.

Jonathon Wong-Nickerson claimed the $1 million instant prize from the "Ultimate Millions" $30 instant ticket game, and opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (less tax withholdings), according to the Massachusetts State Lottery. Wong-Nickerson's going to use his winnings to pay for his wedding.

His winning ticket was purchased at Hadwen Park Market, 256 Webster St., in Worcester. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale.

Three $15 million prizes and 44 $1 million instant prizes remain in the Ultimate Millions” $30 instant game.
