Alleged Robber Flees With Cash from Commerce Bank: Arrest Made
A Leicester man is under arrest for allegedly robbing a Worcester bank.

WORCESTER, MA —
On Thursday, Dec. 15, Worcester police responded to a bank robbery at the Commerce Bank located at 560 Park Ave. The suspect had fled on foot before police got there.
Detectives conducted an investigation and identified the robber as James Stewart, 27, of Leicester.

On Saturday, December 17, 2016, members of the Detective Bureau located Stewart at 40 Temple St. in Worcester. He was placed under arrest and is being charged with armed robbery.
Police responded to the bank on the day of the robbery at 12:03 p.m. after employees pulled a panic alarm. Employees told police they had just been robbed by a white male, approximately in his mid 30s, wearing sunglasses, a hat and a heavy winter coat. He handed the teller a note and demanded cash, and did not show or mention a weapon.

The teller handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries reported.
