WORCESTER, MA — Hockey fans in Worcester can officially mark their calendars for the return of Railers hockey this fall.
The Worcester Railers announced this week that opening night for the team’s 2026-27 season is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at the DCU Center, the team announced on Monday. The game will be presented by M&T Bank.'
The Railers said the opponent and the full regular-season schedule will be announced at a later date.
The upcoming campaign will mark the franchise’s ninth season in the ECHL, one of the premier developmental leagues for professional hockey players and an official pathway to the American Hockey League and National Hockey League. Worcester is the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders.
The team just recently announced a new President and Senior Director of Marketing, Joey Goldstein and David Aitken, respectively.
The announcement comes after a strong 2025-26 season for the Railers.
Worcester finished tied for fifth place in the ECHL’s North Division and posted the second-best regular season record in franchise history. The team remained in playoff contention throughout much of the year and continued to build momentum both on and off the ice.
Opening night is expected to kick off another busy winter sports season in Worcester, with fans likely to see returning promotions, theme nights and community events throughout the year.
Additional details about ticket packages, promotional schedules and the full 2026-27 game slate are expected to be released in the coming months.
