Coronavirus Testing, Vaccine Site Moves To New Location In Worcester
The UMass Memorial-run site has been a hub for testing and vaccines for much of the pandemic.

WORCESTER, MA — A main hub for coronavirus testing and vaccinations in the region moved to a new location on Monday, according to health officials.
The UMass Memorial testing site had been up and running at 201 Commercial St. throughout the pandemic. On Monday, the site moved just around the corner to 100 Front St., next door to a CVS store across from the Worcester Common.
The site offers free walk-up PCR tests, plus COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. The site is run through the state Stop the Spread program. State officials scaled back Stop the Spread testing sites to just 11 locations across Massachusetts in April. At the time, coronavirus cases were on the decline after a major surge linked to the omicron variant.
The latest data from the Worcester Department of Public Health shows elevated levels of coronavirus in local wastewater. And last week, the statewide positive test rate hit a high not seen since December.
This week, the UMass Memorial site is open Monday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The site will be open on Mondays and Thursdays between those same hours through the end of May.
