Worcester MA Primary 2026: Contested Races, Where To Vote
Voters will weigh in on several contested races Tuesday.
WORCESTER, MA — Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to choose their parties’ nominees in several contested races.
The Sept. 1 state primary includes Democratic contests for U.S. Senate and two Massachusetts House seats representing parts of Worcester, along with a Republican race for governor. The winners will advance to the Nov. 3 general election.
In the Democratic U.S. Senate primary, incumbent Sen. Edward J. Markey faces U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s candidate list.
Republican voters will choose between Michael Roger Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve for governor. The winner will face Democratic Gov. Maura Healey, who is unopposed in her primary.
Two contested Democratic state representative races will appear on ballots in parts of Worcester.
In the 15th Worcester District, incumbent state Rep. Mary S. Keefe faces Ronald B. Waddell Jr.

The district includes Ward 3 precincts 1, 2A and 4, all of Ward 4, Ward 6 Precinct 1 and Ward 10 precincts 2 through 5, according to the Massachusetts Legislature.
Worcester voters in the 14th Worcester District will decide between incumbent state Rep. James J. O’Day and Barur R. Rajeshkumar. The district includes West Boylston, Worcester Ward 1 Precinct 5, all of Ward 2 and Ward 3 precincts 3, 5 and 6.

Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters must cast ballots at their assigned polling places.
Registered Democrats may vote in the Democratic primary and registered Republicans may vote in the Republican primary. Unenrolled voters may choose either party’s ballot.
