Election Results: MA Congressional Races

Seven of the nine Massachusetts U.S. House seats — all held by Democrats — were competitive in 2020.

WORCESTER, MA — Seven of the nine Massachusetts seats in the U.S. House of Representatives — all held by Democrats — were up for election in 2020. And it appears Democrats will keep those seats.

By early Wednesday morning, the Associated Press had called races in favor of incumbent U.S. Reps. Seth Moulton, Jim McGovern, Ayanna Pressley and Katherine Clark. Democrats held wide leads over challengers in three other races.

In the race for outgoing U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy's seat, Democratic Newton Councilor Jake Auchincloss claimed victory near 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, with a lead of 65 percent to 35 percent over Republican Julie Hall.

"I’m so grateful that the voters of #MA04 have chosen me as their next Congressman," Auchincloss tweeted. "I promise that I will be a representative for the entire district, that I will always listen, and that together, we will work to rebuild this nation."

Hall spent her day in communities around Fall River in the more conservative part of the 4th Congressional District — including a stop in Attleboro with a supporter waving a Donald Trump flag. The incumbent president

"Thank you to everyone who’s supported me during this campaign we could not have done this without you all," she tweeted around 6 p.m. on Election Day.

Clark thanked supporters, and highlighted the coronavirus crisis as one of the biggest threats facing state residents.

"There is much work to be done," Clark said in a statement. "The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken our community and our economy to their core. Americans are sick and suffering, and have waited too long for relief and real, science-based solutions to this crippling public health crisis. Delivering a national strategy to contain the virus and stabilize our families and our businesses remain my number one priority."

  • Julie Hall (R) — 37.95%

5th Congressional District

  • (i) U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark (D) — 73.09%
  • Caroline Colarusso (R) — 26.91%

6th Congressional District

  • (i) U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton (D) — 64.78%
  • John Paul Moran (R) — 35.22%

7th Congressional District

  • (i) U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D) — 87.47%
  • Roy Owens (I) — 12.53%

8th Congressional District

  • (i) U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch (D) — 80.73%
  • Jonathan Lott (HES) — 19.27%

9th Congressional District

  • (i) William Keating (D) — 61.1%
  • Helen Brady (R) — 36.7%
  • Michael Manley (CTA) — 2.21%
