WORCESTER, MA — It's a dangerously hot July 27 in Massachusetts, although slightly cooler (like, 5 degrees) for residents living west of Route 128. Here are the stories Patch has been keeping an eye on today in the MetroWest and Worcester areas.
The state is beginning to see a slight uptick in coronavirus cases, which has prompted the president of the Massachusetts Medical Society to suggest the state revert to phase 2 of the reopening plan. Over a hot weekend, social media was full of photos of people on the beach and even partying on a big boat without observing coronavirus safety precautions.
Meanwhile, the state is expanding its free testing efforts. On Monday, eight new communities, including Worcester, got free testing sites. That's on top of the initial eight communities (including Marlborough) where the program began earlier in July.
