ICYMI: 13 of Area's Best Perform First Women of Worcester Concert
"Each musician in this show offers something totally different to the overall night ..." Tickets are going fast.

WORCESTER, MA — Singer-guitarist Cara Brindisi has many women musician friends, some of which she knows from collaborative music projects, and others through friendships out of music. She and these artsy buds would often end up in the same conversation: "‘Wouldn’t it be great to play music together and sing with harmonies/ collaborate/ put together a show?"

"Many of us play in bands that are independent from one another and feel like ships passing in the night," said Brindisi. "It seemed time to get to know one another better, make some music, and bring this common desire into an actual plan."
And collectively, they did, organizing the Women of Worcester Concert, which brings together 13 of the area's top female musicians for one night of music on Saturday, April 16, at Fiddler's Green.
The concert was inspired by the 1997 women's festival the Lilith Fair, and features styles that include bluegrass, soul, country, rock, pop, jazz, folk and blues. The show includes performances by: Niki Luparelli; Cara Brindisi, Kayla Daly; Keri Anderson; Amanda Cote; Helen Beaumont; Monica McNamara; Sarah Levecque; Sarah French; Karin Johnson; Nicole Sutka; Sarah Gengel and Jean Mancini. It will be emceed by Katie O'Connor.
Brindisi said a search to find the talent for the show was unnecessary, as the women on board were brought together completely organically.
"Within one, quick Facebook message, it was obvious we had enough musicians to fill one night of music," said Brindisi. "In fact, the most challenging part of this event was knowing that there are dozens more female musicians who could share their talents."
Brindisi said they are working toward putting a second show together, perhaps in late 2016 or early 2017.
"Worcester is full of talent from musicians, artists, entrepreneurs, and overall hard-working women," said Brindisi. "Each musician in this show offers something totally different to the overall night which is a true testament to the great artistry and authenticity that Worcester musicians bring to this city...One of the best outcomes of this show may not even be the final performance, but the process in working with one another. Don’t get me wrong though, the final performance will be spectacular!"
The event also includes a raffle with proceeds to benefit Abby's House.
Tickets are $15, and according to Brindisi, there are only 50 left. Get 'em here.
