Longtime Armenian Restaurant Shiraz Closing This Month
The fixture on Park Ave. will close at the end of May.

WORCESTER, MA — Near the end of February, the Kochian family announced that they were retiring, and closing Shiraz after 21 years.
"Your support over the past 40 years, specifically 21 years at Shiraz, is beyond appreciated," they wrote. "The memories we share with you are forever cherished. However, every chapter in life must come to an end."
Serving food that "we hope reminded you all of the food and love that came from your grandmother's kitchen," the Armenian fixture on Park Ave. is closing at the end of May since owners Jack and Koharig Kochian are retiring.
Jack began cooking in the '70s shortly after he married Koharig, reports the Worcester Business Journal, at a time where the El Morocco was the only other restaurant serving similar food. He's owned three restaurants and sold the other two to focus on Shiraz.
