MA Dog Nabs Second Place In AAA's National Travel Book Photo Contest

Otis the Samoyed will be featured on the spine of this popular dog-friendly travel book from AAA.

MASSACHUSETTS — If you pick up a copy of this year's AAA Petbook, you'll notice an adorable photo of a Samoyed along the spine of the book. The photo, which is a picture of a fluffy dog named Orvis from Blackstone, won second place in the esteemed national AAA Petbook Photo Contest.

AAA Northeast is presenting prizes and a check to Orvis and his proud owners, Linda and Arthur Everly, Tuesday, March 7, at 1 p.m. at Roger Williams Park in Providence, according to an announcement.

The "best-in-travel" shots of Orvis was snapped at Ocean Park in Martha's Vineyard, and is featured on the spine of this 19th edition of the AAA Petbook.

In a statement, Lindy Everly said, “Orvis loves long walks, visiting the beaches, and getting attention from people everywhere he goes. We are extremely proud that Orvis’s photo was chosen—we know it was selected from thousands of great photos.”

Two other Massachusetts dogs notched runner-up victories in the photo contest: Rusty and Pocono, both from Haverhill, MA.

Petbook is a resource for travelers that provides current information on AAA-approved pet-friendly hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, dog parks, national public lands and emergency animal clinics. The popular guide also includes tips for traveling with your pet, as well as hotel pet policies.

The winner of the contest, with the photo featured on the back cover, is Tibbs and his owners from Greenwich, CT.
