Man Arrested for Allegedly Pulling Gun on His Family at Christmas

Police responded to a home on Christmas Day after reports that a man had waved his gun at the family.

WORCESTER, MA —

On Sunday, Dec. 25, around 12:15 a.m., multiple units headed to Marlboro Street after learning a man had allegedly threatened his family with a gun. Five of the victims were standing outside when police arrived, and told them that the suspect and three others were inside.

Victims said that the 24-year-old got angry with some family members, kicked one of them in the head and the shoulder area, and then drew a firearm from his waistband and threatened the family. The suspect waved the firearm in all directions, and the victims attempted to flee. Some locked themselves in the bathroom on the second floor of the home. The suspect banged on the bathroom door and continued to make threats, with the people in the bathroom able to escape when the suspect went into the basement.

Family told police that tried to calm the man down, and there were no injuries.

Members of the SWAT Team, Crisis Intervention Team and negotiators arrived on scene.

Officers located three loaded firearms in the suspect’s bedroom. The firearms were not properly stored.
The suspect was charged with five counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and three counts of Improper Storage of a Firearm.

The identity of the individual will be withheld due to the comprehensive domestic violence law that the Massachusetts state legislature passed.
