Police Seeking Armed Robber Who Shot Mini Mart Owner
Police are looking for a suspect who tried to rob the Edgemere Mini Mart on Mill Street.

WORCESTER, MA—Police are trying to find a man they say tried to rob a convenience store, and shot the owner in the leg before fleeing the scene.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, Worcester police headed to the Edgemere Mini-Mart at 288 Mill St., where a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers encountered the 51 year old male clerk on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The victim told police that a masked man wearing a black jacket with a hood and gloves came into the store and told the clerk to hand over "everything you got." He then pulled out a black gun, the clerk resisted, and the two struggled. The suspect stepped back, fired a shot, and hit the clerk in the upper leg, the suspect fleeing on foot across Mill Street.
An initial search of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful.
The clerk was treated on scene and then transported to a local hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
At this time, Detectives are actively working to identify the suspect involved.
