Rep. McGovern Will Keep House Rules Committee Leadership Role In 2023
Democrats will lose control of the House in 2023, but U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern will keep his top spot in the influential committee.

WORCESTER, MA — The Democrats will lose control of the U.S. House in 2023, but U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Worcester, will get to remain at the top of an influential committee.
Over the past two years, McGovern has been the chairman of the House Rules Committee, which decides whether bills will get a vote on the House floor, and what order bills should be voted on.
On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries — the New York congressman who will be the House minority leader in 2023 — said McGovern would remain the ranking member of the Rules Committee when Republicans take over in the new year.
