The sewerage release happened for about an hour and 15 minutes on Tuesday morning due to a problem at the pumping station, said officials.

WORCESTER, MA—City officials issued a no swimming advisory for Lake Quinsigamond until further notice due to sanitary sewer overflow into the lake.

The sewerage release happened for about an hour and 15 minutes on Tuesday morning due to a problem at the pumping station, said officials.

Bacteria from the overflow can increase the risk of getting sick of consumption by contaminated water. Officials are monitoring and sampling the water to ensure that the standards are within acceptable limits before allowing swimming and other activities.
