Stoughton Boy With Heart Failure 'Drafted' to Worcester College Baseball Team
The four-year-old was welcomed to the Assumption College baseball team, courtesy of the nonprofit 'Team Impact.'
WORCESTER, MA—A four-year-old boy from Stoughton had one of his dreams met when a Worcester college's baseball team "drafted" him him this week.
On Wednesday, Ari Schultz, who suffers from the life-threatening and chronic illness congestive heart failure, was welcomed to Assumption College's team, reports WHDH-TV Channel 7 News.
Schultz has been on a wait list for a heart transplant for more than 90 days, and the baseball draft with this big sports fan was made possible by the nonprofit 'Team IMPACT."
Team IMPACT, according to its mission, "improves the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. We do this by drafting these courageous kids with local college athletic teams. Team IMPACT children are drafted onto the team and become an official member of the team from Draft Day through to Graduation. The child joins the athletic team and the student athletes join the child’s support team."
