Teen Shot in the Hand Near Park, Another Teen Arrested
Breaking: A Worcester teenager was shot in the hand near Castle Park.

WORCESTER, MA—A Worcester teen is under arrest, and another being treated for a gunshot wound after shots were fired in the area of Castle Park on Monday afternoon.
At pproximately 4:21 PM, Worcester police responded to a Shotspotter activation (which is a gun detection system) in the area of 20 Alden St. (Castle Park area).
Several officers arrived and searched for victims and suspects, finding neither when they got to the scene. They couldn't find any evidenced, but heard that a male was seen running from the scene with an injury to his hand.
While searching, officers found four young men trying to hide, one an 18-year-old and the other three juveniles. All four males were placed under arrest for trespassing. The juveniles are two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old. One of the 17-year-olds was transported to a local hospital for a leg injury that he received while running from the gunfire. The 18-year-old was identified as Jordan Santiago of Oread Street.
Around 5:05 p.m., Worcester police got a call from a local hospital that a 15-year-old had come in to the ER with a gunshot wound to the hand. The victim, a known local gang member, according to police, was being treated and unable to speak with police. The injury is non-life threatening
Santiago will be arraigned on Tuesday at the Worcester County District Courthouse while the juveniles will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Juvenile Courthouse on a date yet to be determined.
