WORCESTER, MA — UMass Chan Medical School and Central Mass Links have invited the public to participate in the Multicultural Women’s Health Summit. This is a free family wellness event June 17 at the UMass Chan Medical School campus in Worcester.

Marlina Duncan, EdD, the university's vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion, and Jennifer Bradford, MD, assistant professor of family medicine & community health, are co-chairing the event.

Bradford said on the Voices of UMass Chan podcast that the event "will be a great opportunity for women and their families to come together and meet each other, network, have comfortable conversations with health care providers and learn about things like mental health and physical health.”

The summit is intended to provide families from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to learn about a range of health issues, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and mental health.

The event will feature free health screenings and assessments, health and wellness presentations, exercise exhibits, and activities for families.

“All of our sessions will be led by faculty who identify as women of color,” Duncan said. “We’re setting an example to women of color that we matter. We want to be role models for an entire community in this seminar.”

Details about the event and registration information can be found on the Multicultural Women’s Health Summit page.
