Wayland Looking For Volunteer To Join Fire Staffing Review

Wayland seeks one resident for a working group reviewing recommendations from a recent Fire Department staffing study.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland officials are seeking one resident to serve on a working group that will review recommendations from a recent Fire Department staffing study.

The Fire Department Staffing Working Group will review a March 2026 analysis completed by Municipal Resources Inc., prioritize recommendations and report findings to the town manager, according to the town.

The MRI study evaluated whether Wayland’s current fire and emergency medical services system is aligned with community risk, service demand and operational expectations. The study made 35 recommendations, according to the town notice.

The working group will include the fire chief and assistant fire chief, a Fire Department member, a fire union representative, a Select Board representative, a Finance Committee representative, a Human Resources representative and one resident.

Residents interested in serving should email a brief explanation of their interest to townmanager@wayland.ma.us.
