Worcester Company the Last to Make Pitching Horseshoes
The Boston Globe featured this Worcester company that is the last to mass produce pitching horseshoes in the U.S.
WORCESTER, MA—For many of us, we have memories of our parents or grandparents tossing horseshoes back and forth into the pits during a backyard barbecue. The sound of the ringers clanging on the stakes or thudding on the sand (depending on how good the players were) was a familiar one at a 4th of July party.
While the game isn't seen as much, if you're throwing one of those pitching horseshoes, chances are its from St. Pierre Manufacturing Corporation, right in Worcester, which is the last standing manufacturer of pitching horseshoes in the United States, reports the Boston Globe.
