Worcester Coronavirus Cases Rise After Recent Decreases
After two weeks of decreasing coronavirus cases, Worcester added 87 new cases over the past week.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester posted its second-highest rise in new coronavirus cases since July on Thursday, ending a two-week streak of declines.
New cases rose by 87 on Thursday, bringing the city's total to just over 5,800 since March. On Aug. 13 and 19, Worcester added 70 and 69 new cases, respectively. The highest one-week jump since July 1 came on Aug. 5 when Worcester added 97 new cases.
Still, Worcester is only considered a "moderate risk" community by the state Department of Public Health. Some smaller cities — including Brockton, Framingham and Everett — are among a handful of "high risk" communities in the state, which means that there are more than about eight cases per 100,000 people.
Worcester is still one of the few communities in the state picked for the Stop the Spread free testing program. Here's where you can get a test in Worcester:
