WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester Public Library trustee will receive national recognition this month for her work supporting library services and access in the city.

Stephanie Pasha, chair of the Worcester Public Library Board of Trustees, was selected to receive a 2026 ALA Trustee Citation from United for Libraries. The citation recognizes public library trustees for distinguished service to library development.

Pasha will be publicly recognized during the Opening General Session at the 2026 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago in June, according to United for Libraries.

Pasha joined the Worcester Public Library Board of Directors in 2016. United for Libraries credited her with leadership in several areas, including advocacy for changing the library’s top staff position from head librarian to executive director.

The organization also cited Pasha’s work supporting equity and inclusion efforts, including the creation of a Social Services Specialist position designed to connect library patrons with community resources and reduce barriers to access.

During the Worcester Public Library’s $13.1 million renovation project, Pasha helped guide fundraising and advocacy efforts tied to the Main Library transformation, according to the release.

United for Libraries also highlighted Pasha’s support for the library’s “March Meowness” fee-forgiveness campaign, which drew international media attention and helped increase library engagement, circulation and new library card registrations, according to the organization.

Pasha has also represented Worcester Public Library in city, state and federal advocacy efforts related to library funding and access to services.
