Worcester Names New Principal For North High School
The current dean of students at Worcester Technical High School will become North High School's principal next school year.

WORCESTER, MA — North High School will have a new principal for the 2026-27 school year.
Edward Walker, currently dean of students at Worcester Technical High School, has been selected as North High’s next principal, Worcester Public Schools Executive Director for the North Quadrant Kareem Tatum said in a June 9 letter to students, staff and families.
Walker will replace Dr. Sam FanFan, who led North High for three years. FanFan will continue with the district as manager of positive youth development, according to Tatum.
Walker’s career includes work in K-12 schools and higher education, including roles leading strategic school projects, supervising student success teams and designing professional development tied to academic and social-emotional growth, according to the district.
He has also worked as a consultant and instructor for IDEAS, or Initiatives for Developing Equity and Achievement for Students, through the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents. In that role, Walker designed and delivered curriculum and coached educators on culturally responsive practices, according to Worcester Public Schools.
Before working in Worcester, Walker served as a dean of students, guidance counselor and associate director of college counseling at middle and high schools in Massachusetts. He holds a Master of Education in school psychology and counseling, principal licensure through the Massachusetts School Administrators’ Association and a bachelor’s degree from Bates College.
In a statement shared on social media Monday, Walker confirmed he will leave Worcester Tech at the end of the current school year.
“While I am incredibly excited to begin the 2026–2027 academic year as the Principal of North High School, I leave Worcester Tech High School with a heavy heart,” Walker said. “As I forge ahead to serve the North High community, I aim to carry all of my WTHS experiences, lessons, and valued relationships with me.”
Tatum said Walker’s commitment to instruction, equity and knowledge of Worcester positioned him to lead North High. Walker is expected to connect with students, families and staff soon, according to the district.
