WORCESTER, MA — Binienda Memorial Beach at Coes Pond reopened to swimmers on Thursday after bacteria levels in the water dropped, according to city officials.

Worcester closed the Mill Street beach on July 29 after water tests showed high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water. The closure came during a period of intense heat in the region, although other city beaches and pools remained open.

Temperatures are at some of the coolest levels in weeks, with highs in the upper 70s in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The heat should return this weekend as temperatures return to the upper 80s on Sunday and Monday.
