Worcester Public Market Now Open In Kelley Square
The Worcester Public Market held a grand opening on Feb. 6, which included the start of business for a slew of new stores.

WORCESTER, MA — The long-awaited Worcester Public Market is finally open for business. The market held a grand opening on Thursday night, offering new — and some still to come — dining and shopping options to Kelley Square denizens.
The $21 million public market, with apartment units on top, was built on what used to be an empty lot near the intersection of Harding and Green streets. More than 20 vendors will eventually occupy the space.
Some opened on Feb. 6, but a few others are still under construction.

The centerpiece of the market is a new Wachusett Brewing Co. taproom. Although the beer has been widely available, Wachusett is the sixth brewery to open a taproom in Worcester, and the first in Kelley Square (not counting nearby Beer Garden Worcester).
Other vendors that opened on Thursday night: Smith's Cheese Shop; The Wildflower Truck; Legacy Deli; Creative Cakes; SubZero Ice Cream; and The Market Pantry, a grocery store selling local, artisanal goods.
