Worcester Teen Facing Firearm Charges Following Incident At Auburn Store
Police say a joint investigation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old after a firearm was discovered during a follow-up search at his home.
WORCESTER, MA — An incident at a store in Auburn led to charges filed against a Worcester teen.
A 17-year-old male is facing charges following a joint investigation by the Worcester Police Department's Crime Gun Unit, Gang Unit, and Detective Bureau, and the Auburn Police Department.
On Apr. 3, Auburn police responded to a local business after a store clerk reported that a male had entered the store attempting to sell several electronic items. After completing the initial interaction and leaving, the male returned a few minutes later, police said.

When he returned, police said the male appeared frantic inside the store and ran behind the counter to retrieve the previously sold items, stating he had left something inside them. While helping the individual to retrieve the item, the clerk observed what appeared to be a firearm, police said.
Police said the male then removed a second item, which was described as a sock containing heavy objects, before fleeing the store.

Following the incident, Auburn and Worcester police identified the juvenile suspect. Members of the Worcester Police Crime Gun and Gang Units later established surveillance near the juvenile’s residence. He was stopped shortly after leaving the home, according to police.
Detectives obtained and were granted a search warrant for the residence, based on the facts developed during the investigation, as well as statements provided by the juvenile’s mother, police said.
Investigators located a firearm and ammunition inside the home when executing the warrant, police said. The juvenile was arrested on Apr. 7.
Auburn police are still investigating based on what happened in the town and may file additional charges.
Police did not provide the teen's identity.
