WORCESTER, MA — A Clark University professor's design is one of eight winners in a national contest to appear on Bounty paper towels. Sherry Freyermuth, a Visual and Performing Arts professor, creates collage art by cutting plain paper with children’s scissors and arranging the pieces to create surface designs, according to Clark.

She is primarily a graphic design artist and recently started illustrating. She said that she considered winning the contest run by Brit + Co. "a long shot."

The competition was open to female-identifying artists who submitted two pieces to represent their work. Freyermuth submitted a paper collage of the quote “she believed she could, so she did” and a floral design, according to Clark.

Bounty chose the winners from more than 300 submissions for their paper towel collection themed “A Clean Fresh Start.” Freyermuth also received a $5,000 prize.

Freyermuth said that her children are the main inspiration for her work. She's currently working on a dinosaur-themed collection inspired by her son.
