Students Say Gun Pointed At Them In Wrentham: KP Superintendent

King Philip Superintendent Paul Zinni said six students said someone in a car pointed a gun at them on Franklin Street Thursday afternoon.

WRENTHAM, MA – The King Philip Superintendent of Schools sent a letter to parents Thursday notifying them that six high school students said someone pointed at gun at them as they walked toward the school along Franklin Street after school on Thursday. Superintendent Paul Zinni said the students said the incident happened about 3:30 as they returned to campus from Dunkin’ Donuts.

No students were harmed in the incident. Zinni said the Wrentham Police Department was immediately notified and has begun an investigation.

Zinni said the students reported that the gun was pointed by someone who was driving by them. All after-school activities went on as scheduled Thursday, but Zinni told parents that an increased police presence may be noticed on and around campus during the investigation.

McGrath said the students said that when the Jeep pulled alongside them, they saw three black men inside β€” the operator, a front seat passenger and one in the rear seat. The students told police the man in the backseat extended his arm out of the window toward them and appeared to be holding a black handgun. The students said as the Jeep pulled away, it hit the curb and those the Jeep could be heard yelling in jest.

Zinni referred any further questions about the incident, and anyone who may have information about the incident, to the Wrentham Police Department. Wrentham police asked that any businesses in the area that have surveillance cameras contact the department at 508-384-2121.
