Husband Of Missing MI Woman In Bahamas Has Violent History With Her, Daughter Says: Report

The daughter of a missing Michigan woman in the Bahamas told national news outlets that her husband has threatened to "throw her overboard."

The daughter of a missing Michigan woman in the Bahamas is worried something may have happened to her mom, according to a report.

Lynette Hooker, 56, of Lenawee County, has been missing at sea since her husband told police she fell from their small dinghy and was swept away by the ocean current last weekend in the Bahamas, according to police.

Karli Aylesworth told Fox News Channel’s FOX & Friends that Brian Hooker, Lynette's husband, has a history of being violent towards her mother.

"I do believe something might have happened to her," Aylesworth told the channel. "There's history of them choking her out and threatening to throw her overboard. So the fact that this is actually happening makes me believe there's more to the story."

Brian told police they were riding to Elbow Cay on the Bahamian island of Abaco when Lynette fell overboard. He said the strong currents carried her out to sea, and he lost sight of her, according to police.

Brian said Lynette also had the keys to the boat, so he had to paddle back to shore hours later, where he told a person what had happenedm according to reports.

Aylesworth told CBS News she's baffled at why her mom would have the keys.

"Brian’s always driving. So he basically is in charge of the key. So the fact that my mom had it doesn’t make any sense," she said.

She said in an interview with NBC News that the couple sold their home a few years ago and lived full-time on the boat.

The couple posted their sea adventures to social media, saying they had "sailed away from their BS" and were living their best life.

They posted part of their Bahamas trip on their TikTok and Instagram pages called "The Sailing Hookers." The last TikTok post showed the couple had sailed to Great Guana Cay.

Brian Hooker has not been charged with a crime, and police have not opened an investigation into him in connection with the incident.

"I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas," Brian wrote in a message posted to Facebook. "Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart. We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus."

Bahamas and U.S. officials and volunteers are still looking for Lynette as the investigation continues. They did not say if Lynette was wearing a life jacket.

“These efforts have spanned marine, land and aerial areas, with additional support from drone technology and professional divers,” according to a statement.

Aylesworth also created a GoFundMe page to help with the search efforts or lay her to rest.

Police in the Bahamas asked anyone with information about the incident to call local police or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
