MI Woman Wins $6M On Scratch-Off Ticket: 'I Went Into Shock'
The woman told lottery officials she plans to use some of her winnings to help others.

CLINTON COUNTY, MI — A Clinton County woman had a champagne celebration with her family after winning $6 million on a scratch-off ticket, according to Michigan Lottery officials.
The 63-year-old woman bought her winning Millionaire Maker ticket at Exit 76 - Westphalia, located at 305 South Westphalia Street in Westphalia, which is roughly 25 miles northwest of Lansing, lottery officials said.
The woman told lottery officials that she traded in some winning tickets for the Millionaire Maker ticket. She said she immediately uncovered the money bag symbol but scratched off the rest of the ticket before scratching the winning amount.

"When I finally scratched it and saw ‘$6MIL’ I went into shock," she said. "I frantically called my daughter, and she thought she was going to have a heart attack after I told her I’d just won $6 million!"
She also said she called her husband and told him she had a big surprise for him when he got home.

"Shortly after, my daughter showed up with a bottle of champagne to celebrate and then my husband arrived and I got to tell him that we’re millionaires! We spent the rest of the night celebrating the big win," she added.
She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $4.1 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount, lottery officials said.
With her winnings, she plans to start college funds for her grandchildren and donate, lottery officials said.
"I don’t plan to change my life much, but I will use the money to change lives," said the player. "I want to use my winnings as a bonus to help others."
