MI Gas Prices Fall Ahead Of Labor Day Travel: AAA

Gas prices across Michigan continued falling Monday just before one of the biggest travel days of the year, according to AAA.

MICHIGAN — Gas prices across Michigan continued falling Monday just before one of the biggest travel days of the year, according to AAA.

The average price for a regular gallon of gas in Michigan was $3.76, which is nine cents cheaper than last week, but still ten cents higher than last month, according to AAA.

The average price for a regular gallon of gas in the metro Detroit area was $3.79, which is five cents cheaper than last week, but still 13 cents higher than last month, according to AAA.

For a full 15-gallon tank of gas, drivers are paying an average of $56, which is still roughly $22 cheaper than the highest price in 2022, according to AAA.

"Michigan drivers are seeing slightly lower prices at the pump as Labor Day approaches," AAA-The Auto Club Group Spokesperson Adrienne Woodland said. "An increase in gas demand heading into the holiday weekend could reverse this downward trend."

The most expensive places to get gas in the state were Marquette ($3.96), Traverse City ($3.86) and Jackson ($3.83), while the least expensive places to get gas were in Benton Harbor ($3.69), Flint ($3.70) and Saginaw ($3.73), according to AAA.
