MI Gas Prices Spike To Highest Average In 3 Months

Gas prices in Michigan jumped to their highest average of the summer on Monday morning, according to AAA.

MICHIGAN — Gas prices in Michigan jumped to their highest average of the summer on Monday morning, according to AAA.

The average cost for a regular gallon of gas in Michigan was $3.67, which is 18 cents higher than last week, but still 56 cents less than a year ago, according to AAA.

Gas prices in metro Detroit jumped to $3.69, which is 14 cents higher than last week, but still 50 cents cheaper than last year, according to AAA.

Officials said gas prices typically raise in July as summer travel reaches its peak.

"Michigan motorists are seeing the highest gas prices in over three months," AAA Spokeswoman Adrienne Woodland said. "With supplies tight, if demand climbs, pump prices will likely follow suit."
