Michigan Has 5th Safest Hospitals For Patient Safety In Nation: Report
The Leapfrog Group analyzed 81 hospitals across the state. 41 of them earned an "A" while 22 more received a "B."
MICHIGAN — Michigan has the fifth-safest hospitals in the nation, according to a report released Tuesday by The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization that reviews hospital patient safety.
The nonprofit releases a biannual report grading the hospital's overall effectiveness in preventing harm, as well as medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The group analyzed 81 hospitals across the state. 41 of them earned an "A" while 22 more received a "B."
The group only ranked one Michigan hospital below average in the Spring 2022 report: Hurley Hospital in Flint earned a "D." The hospital has consistently earned a below average grade from the group over the years, including an "F" in the spring of 2019.

On the other hand, Michigan Medicine (University of Michigan) in Ann Arbor has earned straight "A's" over the past 10 years from the group, making it the hospital in the state to do so.
Nationwide, only hospitals in North Carolina, Virginia, Utah and Colorado ranked higher than Michigan.
