The four skaters on the ice when Team USA scored the game-winning overtime goal in the men's gold medal hockey game at the Milano Cortina Games on Sunday are all Michiganders.

They were Dylan Larkin from Waterford Township, Zach Werenski from Grosse Pointe Woods, Connor Hellebuyck from Commerce Township and Canton's Jack Hughes, who scored the game-winning goal.

Hughes' goal came 1 minute and 41 seconds into 3-on-3 overtime, giving Team USA a 2-1 win over rival Canada and their first gold medal since the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team.

Hughes scored the goal despite a bloodied mouth and missing teeth after taking a high stick late in the game.

"This is all about our country," Hughes told NBC after the game. "I love the USA, I love my teammates. It’s unbelievable. The USA Hockey brotherhood is so strong."

Hellebuyck also played a great game, stopping 41 shots, including a sensational save in the third period to keep the game tied.

Other Michiganders who were part of Team USA's roster included Kyle Connor (Shelby Township) and Quinn Hughes (Jack Hughes' brother), also of Canton.

Team USA finished with a perfect 6-0 record in the tournament and outscored their opponents 26-9.

Canada, who was forced to play without their captain and two-time gold medalist Sidney Crosby due to injury, was also undefeated until the gold medal game.

The win comes after Team USA lost to Canada 3-2 in last year's Four Nations title game.

It was also Farmington Hills native Megan Keller who scored the game-winning goal in the gold-medal game of women's hockey. The goal capped a 2-1 victory over Canada, completing a perfect 7-0 run with a record-setting five straight shutouts to capture the gold medal in Milan.
