Severe Storms Can Hit Detroit Area Tuesday: MI Weather

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Pleasant weather will settle across southeastern Michigan on Monday for the 2024 Ford Fireworks in downtown Detroit before multiple rounds of rain showers and thunderstorms return to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures will hit the low 80s with comfortable humidity levels Monday across southeastern Michigan, making it a perfect night to enjoy the fireworks show in downtown Detroit, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain showers and storms will move into southeastern Michigan on Tuesday morning and stick around through much of the morning hours, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures will then reach the upper 80s Tuesday across southeastern Michigan before another round of showers and thunderstorms move into the region during the nighttime hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Both rounds of storms could become severe with the potential for heavy downpours causing localized flooding, large hail, strong winds up to 60 miles per hour and a low threat for tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of southeastern Michigan was placed under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms throughout Tuesday.

The showers and thunderstorms could linger into Wednesday morning across southeastern Michigan, but forecasters do not anticipate those storms becoming severe, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will then reach the low 80s Wednesday across southeastern Michigan before more comfortable weather settles in the region for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
