Wall Street Journal Editor to Speak at Saturday's League of Women Voters Event

This year’s annual meeting of the League of Women Voters Oakland County Area is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in West Bloomfield, featuring guest speaker Rebecca Blumenstein of The Wall Street Journal.

This year’s theme is “Women in the Economy and Her International Career.”

Blumenstein, the Page One editor and deputy managing editor of The Wall Street Journal, recently co-hosted the Women in the Economy conference, bringing together a select group of men and women who are CEOs, policymakers, industry experts and others, for an interactive working session on the impact of women in the economy.

She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Michigan Daily. She joined The Wall Street Journal in 1995 as a reporter in the Detroit bureau. She later served as deputy chief and chief of the Journal’s New York Technology Group. As chief of the Journal’s China Bureau, she oversaw a team that won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization with membership open to anyone 18 years of age or older who would like to participate in hands-on work to encourage active and informed participation by citizens in government.

The meeting will be at , 5600 Walnut Lake Rd. in West Bloomfield. The cost to attend is $32, which includes the lecture, lunch and a meeting. The cost to attend just the lecture is $10. Registration is required and can be done online at LWVOA.org or by calling 248-594-6602.
