Birmingham Massage Studio Offers Free Services to Vets

Massages can help men and women overcome some of the war-created problems, such as PTSD and others.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A Birmingham massage therapist is offering a free massage program to assist in the healing process for men and women returning from combat and disabled veterans.

Steve Willis, owner and head masseuse of Willis Holistic Studio, said in a news release that the first seven veterans who will get the free-hour massages have already been identified. Willis Holistic Studio is located at 725 S. Adams Road in Birmingham.

“After having a close friend came home with a plethora of war-created problems,” Willis, a veteran himself said he felt he could help address the problems with one-hour massages to assist in the treatment and recovery of the many disabling problems.

“The main reason this will mean so much to me is I get to be part of a solution that strengthens the very fabric of why we fight in the first place, to create opportunity for powerful medicine, and to breed relationships so valuable you can't put a price on them,” Willis said in a news release.

Something as simple as massage therapy can give people their lives back, and help society as a whole. Massage therapy has the ability to control and level cortisol hormones that PTSD veterans have either clinically high levels of, or a complete burnout of the hormone.
