Detroit Country Day Student Wins National Modeling Competition
Madelyn Karoub, of Farminghton Hills, wins a close competition and a chance at stardom.

Detroit Country Day student Madelyn Karoub, 17, recently won a close competition that could help launch her modeling career.
Karoub was the winner in Model Launcher's Green-themed contest for girls 17 through 20. Contestants were asked to submit nonprofessional photos in a favorite green outfit to participate, and public voting determined the winner.
“Madelyn’s win for the Green contest was very intense,” Model Launcher CEO and founder Bill Staniford said. “Madelyn is a very sweet girl. She’s dazzling, ambitious, and knows what she wants. I know she will have countless opportunities in the future."

The competition-based website gives aspiring male and female models between the ages of 13 and 35 a chance at stardom through online modeling contest themes and casting rooms. Every contest is powered by public voting, and the contestants are encouraged to share their voting links through various social media networks.
As a Model Launcher contest winner, Karoub received a professional photo shoot with fashion photographer John Fisher, a trip to Miami, a stay at the Hilton South Beach Hotel, limo car service and publicity support from Beautiful Planning Marketing & PR to help her jump start her modeling career. She and her father shared dinner with John Fisher and his crew at Lincoln Boulevard’s Doraku Sushi.

“Nothing was more surprising in my life than winning the Model Launcher contest,” Karoub said. “I was so shocked when I got the call from Bill. It didn’t really hit me until the day of the photo shoot. I felt terribly nervous at first, but John and his team quickly made me feel at home. And the beach was exquisite!”
Karoub said she has dreamed of becoming a model since she was 13. She hopes to follow in the career footsteps of her father, Dr. Frederick Karoub, and is currently looking into pre-med programs at the University of Miami and the University of California, Los Angeles.
When she’s not buried in books, Karoub can be found playing violin or representing her school, Detroit Country Day, on the tennis court. Miprepzone.com recently named the Yellowjackets among metro Detroit's top teams to watch this season and singled out Karoub among players to watch.
