MICHIGAN VIETNAM VETERANS TRAVELING MEMORIAL MAKES STOP IN AUBURN HILLS

The City of Auburn Hills to honor Michigan Vietnam Veterans

For the second time since 2013, the Michigan Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial journeys to The City of Auburn Hills. The memorial wall is decorated with the names of 2,654 brave men and women of Michigan who were killed in action or POW/MIA in the Vietnam War. Veterans, families and persons of all ages are invited to see the hands-on exhibit on Saturday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Auburn Hills Community Center, located at 1827 N. Squirrel Rd.

In addition to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, planners have included special activities for veterans, children and the entire family. This year’s activities will include a kid’s boot camp, a display of military vehicles and memorabilia, and a medal presentation for all attending veterans. Documentary films will be shown and refreshments will be served. A variety of resources will also be available on site to veterans and their families.

“My father served in the Army in the Vietnam War and like countless veterans, he lost close friends,” says Mayor Kevin McDaniel. “This memorial has special meaning to many families, and I am grateful to our Senior Services Director Karen Adcock for her leadership in making this a biannual occasion for our city.”
