Scholarships Available for Computer Training With JVS

Unemployed or underemployed job seekers can receive scholarships to attend computer training courses that will help strengthen their skills for a new job or future promotion. JVS is accepting applications now for “Better Job Opportunities,” a 12-week course beginning September 12.

Students receive 72 hours of hands-on training that covers Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Access®, Publisher and Outlook®. The program also includes job preparedness training and seminars. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of proficiency.

Classes are held at the David B. Hermelin ORT Resource Center in West Bloomfield, a division of JVS. Day or evening times are offered.

The course fee is $720; however, scholarships are available through funding from ORT Michigan and The Jewish Fund. Space is limited and an application is required for eligibility. The David B. Hermelin ORT Resource Center is located inside the Jewish Community Center at 6600 W. Maple Road, West Bloomfield.
