5 Things You Should Know Include Recall Petition, Soccer and Library Board Applications
It's going to be a busy week in the Bloomfield Township and Bloomfield Hills area.
1. The Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Township Hall. The board will honor a citizen and the township ’s officer of the year; receive the Police Department’s annual report; and consider an industrial sewer surcharge.
2. The Oakland County Election Commission will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland County Probate Court to review the petition language submitted by residents who want to recall members of the Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education. Recall petitions for board President Ingrid Day, Vice President Ed Ford, Secretary Kate Pettersen and Treasurer Cynthia von Oeyen were filed by the Bloomfield 20/20 citizens group.
3. The Bloomfield Township Public Library will host an afternoon of soccer beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ultimate Soccer Arena, 867 South Blvd. in Pontiac. Children age 4-10 are invited to participate in soccer drills, skill activities and a scrimmage game. Registration is required, but spots are still available. 4. Thursday is the deadline to submit an application for the vacant position on the Bloomfield Township Public Library Board of Trustees. Those interested must be Bloomfield Township residents and be able to attend monthly meetings and fulfill several other obligations to committees. The candidate selected will replace Lyle Dahlberg, who resigned in May after serving just more than a year on the board. 5. The Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will help a celebrate the one-year anniversary of Sprint of Bloomfield Hills, 2527 S. Telegraph Rd., Suite B, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and member coffee starting at 9 a.m. Thursday. The event is open to all but complimentary for chamber members only.
