Celebrate The Maple Theater's Last Weekend With Secret Cinema

As the new operators of  enter the final planning stages of renovations, the venue is hosting  you won't know which film you're seeing until the lights go down.

For this parting event, the theater is giving fans a chance to revel in the past before saying their goodbyes by presenting titles selected from the AFI's top 100 list.

Tickets are just $5 and include complimentary popcorn.

Monday night, brave cinephiles were treated to Mike Nichol's 1967 bittersweet bildungsroman, "The Graduate".  Audience size more than doubled Tuesday evening for Francis Ford Coppola's sweeping masterwork, "The Godfather".  Wednesday saw similar attendance for Orson Welles' iconic tour de force, "Citizen Kane".  Fans of Old Hollywood received another feast for the eyes Thursday night with a screening of Michael Curtiz' "Casablanca".

The series continues all week, culminating with introductions by former Maple manager Ruth Daniels on Saturday night and new owner Jon Goldstein for Sunday's finale.

To add a twist to this admittedly complex plot, The Maple will be posting and linking to "hints" scattered across their social media accounts on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram. 

The festivites continue tonight with a film the whole family can appreciate.  For those looking to spoil the surprise, here's a hint: at the time of its release, tonight's selection was the highest grossing film of all time.  It remained so until the same director released another film that broke the record 11 years later.
